More About Steadings
windswept hills and wild panoramas are just 15 miles from Inverness and 10 minutes from Loch Ness. Simpicity and ease are the catch words here. The patchy or even non-existent mobile reception is welcome in its absence. Above all, the Steadings' delightful owners, David and Mary, are happy to arrange any activity you desire during your stay and will point you in the right direction for golf, game-shooting, river and sea fishing, walks, bird watching and more. Steadings' restaurant, The Grouse and Trout, proffers hearty highland fare served before a cinematic highland view. Private dining is available in the 'Clach an' Airm', named after an ancient megalith at Dunlichity church. A fitting title considering the stone was used for centuries to sharpen swords, knives and all things that slice. The ancestors of Steadings' previous owner, Clan Chief Ronald Mac MacGillivray, sharpened their weapons on the stone before they set out for the battle of Culloden in 1746. Today both restaurants live up to the highland traditions of hospitality and friendliness.
