Approached by an avenue of plane trees, Plas Maenan sits high on a bluff on the sunny side of the Conwy Valley with spectacular views of the river and mountains from the fountain terrace. With a National Trust viewpoint directly... More About Plas Maenan Hotel above, and the Snowdonia National Park in front, this elegant Edwardian hotel has an unrivalled setting. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished by James and Caroline Burt. Great care has been taken to create the ambience of a welcoming country house. The small dining room is both elegant and relaxed, offering traditional food, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. James looked after the wines at Buckingham Palace for 14 years so, as might be expected, the wine list is well chosen, but reasonably priced. The Sunday lunch carvery is always full of local people and booking is essential. Suites and bedrooms are elegant and comfortable with lots of extras such as books and DVDs and the public rooms are full of well-stuffed sofas, squashy leather chairs, log fires, and antique furniture. The delightful flock of Neusinger sheep are a constant reminder of the most important inhabitants of the Conwy Valley. Plas Maenan is an ideal choice for a short or long stay, for dinner, Sunday lunch, a wedding or a private celebration.
