New, vibrant, exciting stuff in the New Forest

Gerard Basset, the imaginative and ever charming co-founder of the original Hotel du Vin Group, along with his wife Nina (was the youngest lady AA hotel inspector at 21 years old), have created a contemporary, boutique hotel,... More About Hotel TerraVina located in the countryside of the New Forest, but only 15 minutes drive from the centre of Southampton. The hotel offers gorgeous, individually styled, comfortable bedrooms, the majority of which have either a small patio garden or a spacious sun terrace. The restaurant, with its open kitchen and display cellar also enjoys a large, sunny verandah for al fresco dining, overlooking the lawns and the outdoor pool. There is also a basement cellar that guests are able to visit, stocked, of course, with Gerard's personal choices. Many of the bedrooms have walk-in showers and separate roll-top baths, and seven have secluded patios or terraces with smart sun loungers - some terraces/verandas are absoloutely enormous. The beds are dreamingly comfortable with top quality egyptian cotton linen and wonderful pillows. Real milk can be found in the fridge and the hotel uses local, organically-grown lavender for the hand-made toiletries as well as eco-friendly housekeeping products. Each room is totally individual and is equipped with Freeview/satellite TV, DVD players, Internet connections and wireless broadband. The wine and the food here have the same ability to impress, whether you are in the restaurant with its 'open' kitchen and wood burning stove or on the outside veranda. Breakfast, lunch, dinner... the food is so well presented and delicious that a walk in the New Forest before or after the experience is probably a good move. Or you may choose to stay in the cosy residents' lounge with comfy sofas and intimate corners. Outside is a garden and swimming pool. There is no doubt at all that this is also a wine lover's paradise - who better than a Master of Wine to recommend something out of the ordinary? Speaking of which, fun wine related activities such as 'The Option Game' or 'Call My Bluff' can easily be set up for larger parties or corporate events. Give Gerard a call to discuss further. The natural splendour of the New Forest is on your doorstep. You'll find dozens of activities in this wild landscape and its nearby coasts, including leisurely walks, demanding hikes, mountain-biking, horse-riding, windsurfing, playing golf, bird-watching and beaches. There are chic shops too in nearby Southampton and Bournemouth, plus the many local boutiques in the New Forest's pretty towns and villages.
