A connoisseur's hotel with sensational views of Lake Windermere

Back in 1888, Lord Lonsdale (of boxing's Lonsdale Belt fame) was so taken by the views across Lake Windermere and the Langdale Fells that he bought Holbeck Ghyll for use as his hunting lodge. His idea of the perfect country... More About Holbeck Ghyll Hotel & Spa residence has made a lasting impression on the property's style and appearance. More than 100 years on, the view has hardly altered at all, but the house is now a hotel of outstanding character. The interiors are styled in the manner of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, with a wealth of oak panelling and stained glass. Into this magnificence are interwoven the luxuries of a first-class hotel with the feel of a home: antiques, original paintings, flowers, really comfortable furniture. Six luxury lakeview rooms also await in The Lodge, only 45 metres from the old house, and the new Miss Potter suite is ideal for that truly special occasion. Part of the Holbeck experience is the Michelin star dinner, which features dishes classically prepared and artistically presented in the English style with a French influence. Unusual vegetarian items are also included in every course. The inclusive dinner rate will not disappoint. An exclusive Health Spa offers a full range of body and beauty treatments. A gym, sauna and steam room are also available.
